MikeOS features a BASIC Interpreter that can be used to make some awesome apps. You can read the documentation for this BASIC Interpreter here. Right now, several BASIC apps come with MikeOS, including an ASCII art creation program and a fun game.
MikeOS also features a command-line interface. The CLI can be used to run programs, BASIC apps, and perform simple file management operations. If you prefer a nice Black & White terminal to a GUI, all you have to do to get to it is hit "Cancel" at the MikeOS welcome message instead of "Ok."
Overall, I really like MikeOS. If you like to try new things, be sure to take a look at MikeOS. I should note before concluding this article, however, that MikeOS was not designed to be run as the only OS on a computer. It is an educational OS, and so was designed to provide students and those interested in learning more about computers a basic idea of how operating systems work. If you are interested in trying out MikeOS, you can download it here: mikeos.berlios.de.
